WENT TO SEE THE TROUBADOUR
WRITTEN BY GEOFF WILDE
I went to see the troubadour
He was strumming his guitar
I moved a little closer
He was lookin like a movie star
He had me captivated
From the song at the start
I’d give so much for a chance
Just to hear his beating heart
I went to see the troubadour
Everybody was on their feet
No one making a mockery
Like faithful strangers we meet
There was people of all sizes
But I was the youngest of age
It would be my dream come true
Just to meet him backstage
He addressed me as his friend
Oh, did he really mean that?
You know he'd be my bestest friend
He's an angel, and that’s a fact
I went to see the troubadour
I bought a t-shirt and a mug
If I only knew him
Then I'd give him a loving hug
Well I would do anyway
He taught me, oh, so much
He took me in like an orphan
And he gave me a loving touch
I would stand here wait til I’m with you
I would bow every time I see you
I would wash your feet
I'd offer you a seat, in my heart
I went to see the troubadour
I took my time to leave
I put my coat back on
Then I rolled down my sleeves
I didn’t want to depart from him
I didn’t wanna stay with you
To see him just one more time
There ain’t nothing that I wouldn’t do
I went to see the troubadour
Applaudin’ through the night
I know that he was there
But it didn’t feel right
Being stuck so far away
And nowhere to get near
I kept whispering to myself
That there was nothing to fear
Nothing to fear
