BLACKBURN TOWN

I remember your blue eyes crying in the rain
The words that you said, they caused so much pain
You turned and walked away, and I fell to the ground
You forgot about me, and Blackburn town

I struggled through the day just to make both ends meet
It didn't take much to admit my defeat
I wanted to be a rock and roll star
But I guess that I never made it that far

There'll never be a statue in my home town
When people say my name, oh, there'll be but a frown
Your love had a way of leading me astray
I think that it's best I should be on my way

Drinkin’ with my friends, all through the night
Pretending we weren’t drunk, and getting into fights
But I got on my own two feet, and I turned my life around
And I couldn’t have done it without Blackburn town

The lights of the town are flashin’ me by
So bury me in the streets, where my poor body lies
And if anyone should happen to ask about me
Then tell them I died, cause I tried to be free
