A GIRL I USED TO KNOW

When I look at her, I know she ain’t no good
I tried to make her happy, but I never could
Things like this, they happen so slow
I can hear her voice through the radio
I know I’ve been drinkin’, but I’ve got room for one more
She's just a girl I used to know
She's just a girl I used to know

I told her so many times, how much she meant to me
She called my bluff, said she could see right through me
The only thing that’s certain, is that she seems so insecure
Sometimes it feels, like I don’t even know her
My bags are packed, but I’ve got nowhere left to go
She's just a girl I used to know
She's just a girl I used to know

I’m haunted by the ghost, of our forgotten love
If there is a god, he must be too high above
All that I’ve learnt, is that things do die
Apart from that melancholy look in your eye
I still see her footprints out there in the snow
She's just a girl I used to know
She's just a girl I used to know
